Description
Indication
MFC-XG is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections such as community-acquired pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and intra-abdominal infections.
Pharmacology
MFC-XG belongs to the class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. It works by inhibiting the activity of enzymes involved in bacterial DNA replication and synthesis, which prevents the bacteria from multiplying and leads to their death.
Dosage & Administration
The dosage and administration of moxifloxacin may vary depending on the condition being treated, patient age, weight, kidney function, and other factors. It is available in tablet and injection form.
Tablet
The recommended adult dose for most infections is 400 mg once a day for 5-21 days.
Injection

Side effects

Food Interactions:
MFC-XG should be taken at least 4 hours before or 8 hours after antacids, sucralfate, metal cations, or multivitamins that contain zinc or iron, as they can interfere with its absorption.
Interactions with Other Medicines:
MFC-XG can interact with several medications, including:
- Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin)
- Corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone)
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (e.g., ibuprofen)
- Theophylline (used to treat asthma)

Contradictions:
MFC-XG should not be used in individuals who have a history of hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components. It is also contraindicated in individuals with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use. The use of moxifloxacin is also contraindicated in individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as in children under 18 years of age.
Storage Conditions:
MFC-XG should be stored at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). The tablets should be kept in their original container, tightly closed and protected from light and moisture. Unused solutions for injection should be discarded after 24 hours.
